Apply for a Breast Cancer Campaign pilot grant

Breast Cancer Campaign funds innovative world-class research throughout the UK and Ireland. The charity is now inviting applications for pilot grants, to be awarded in November 2009.

This funding is for established scientists to develop new ideas in the field of breast cancer research. Awards are up to £20,000 for one year.

Campaign currently supports 106 research projects throughout the UK and Ireland worth over £14 million and has an annual research spend of around £5 million.

Applications are welcomed in all areas of breast cancer research including: basic, translational and pre-clinical research, prevention (impact of diet and lifestyle on risk), psychosocial sciences, epidemiology, nursing, palliative care, complementary therapies, general practice, surgery chemotherapy, radiology, radiotherapy, bioinformatics, pharmacy and pharmacology.


Future Campaign Application Deadlines

As a measure of Campaign’s success in attracting grant applications they are announcing a modification to their funding rounds from November 2009 to focus the funding opportunities each year as well as to improve timing and efficiency and management of their internal resources.

Breast Cancer Campaign will continue all existing funding streams of:

project grants, PhD studentships, scientific fellowships and pilot grants.

From November 2009, the Autumn grant round will consider PhD studentships and pilot studies but no longer consider project grants.

From May 2010, the Spring grant round will consider project grants and fellowships but no longer consider pilot grants.

Researching the effects of diet and lifestyle on breast cancer risk?

Apply for a Breast Cancer Campaign and World Cancer Research Fund grant

 Applications are invited for project grants to fund research into the effects of food, nutrition and physical activity on the origins, causes and prevention of breast cancer.

 The submission deadline is 5 October 2009.
