The Agency Board
The Board of the Agency was established in April 2004 and currently consists of 4 members as follows:
Board Members
Mr Alistair Joynes (Chairman)
Mr Alistair Joynes MCIPD lives in Portadown. He is the Managing Partner of a Business and HR Consultancy and has been an Arbitrator with the Labour Relations Agency since 2011. He was formerly a Governor of Upper Bann Institute of Further & Higher Education and also a Board Member of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. Until his appointment as Chair of NIMDTA, Mr Joynes was a Non-Executive Director of the Southern Health & Social Care Trust since its establishment on 1 April 2007. Mr Joynes brings to his role as Chair of NIMDTA his extensive experience in Governance, Risk Management and the delivery of transformational change programmes. As part of his previous appointment with the Southern Trust, he was Chair of both the Audit Committee and the Strategic Communications Group.
Mrs Judith Eve
Mrs Judith M Eve CBE Graduated from Queen`s University, Belfast with an LLB degree in 1971 and qualified as a Barrister-at-Law in 1973. Mrs Eve was employed by Queen`s University until 2002, firstly as a Legal Academic then as International Liaison Officer. She has served as a Mental Health Commissioner and as an Equal Opportunities Commissioner for Northern Ireland and as a non-executive Director of North and West Belfast Health and Social Services Trust.
Currently, she is a Chairperson of the Civil Service Commissioners for Northern Ireland, is a part-time Chairman of The Appeals Service Northern Ireland, and is a Board member of BIH Housing Association.
Dr Ronnie Atkinson
Dr Ronnie Atkinson trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and then in Medical Oncology. His away training in Oncology was in Glasgow with Prof Kenneth Calman (now Sir Kenneth) and Dr Gordon McVie.
He was appointed Senior Lecturer in Medical Oncology in Belfast in 1980. He is now semi-retired, still doing 3 sessions per week in the specialty.
He also has interests in Palliative Care (Hospice) and Medical Ethics (Vice Chairman of NIREC2).
Dr John Marley
Dr John Marley was an undergraduate at Queen’s University Belfast (1983-1988) and after working within the Dental School moved to Leeds University where he completed his PhD in 1993. He took up his post as Consultant & Senior Lecturer in Oral Surgery in 2000 at the School of Dentistry in Belfast. He was appointed Associate Head of School for Teaching in 2003.
As well as his appointment as a non-executive member of the Board of the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency (2005) he is a member of the Surgical Advisory Committee (2004) which has responsibility for overseeing training in Oral Surgery. He also represents the Queens University of Belfast on the Central Dental Advisory Committee (2003) which acts in an advisory role to the Chief Dental Officer for Northern Ireland.
Mr Deane Morrice
Deane Morrice lives in Newtownards. He is Chief Executive & Fund Secretary of NILGOSC – the Northern Ireland Local Government Officers’ Superannuation Committee - the administering authority of the £4 billion local government pension scheme in Northern Ireland. He has almost 29 years experience in the local government pensions field and is a regular speaker on pensions and investments.
He is a qualified Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) and plays a leading part in ACCA, having been President of the Ulster Members Network 2002/04, President of ACCA Ireland 2007/08, the Northern Ireland Representative on the ACCA International Assembly 2006/08 and has been an ACCA Ambassador since 2009.
He is Chairman of the Charity Advisory Committee for the £30m Northern Ireland Central Investment Fund for Charities run by the Department of Social Development, an independent member of the Audit Committee of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and a Board member of Queen’s University Investment Committee.
He was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2009 for services to local government.
