Critical Care Reviews Meeting 2019 | Thursday & Friday, January 17th / 18th | Titanic, Belfast

The Critical Care Reviews Meeting is a niche event focusing on the latest major critical care trials. Its aim is two-fold; firstly, to discuss the best critical care trials of the previous year with their chief investigators, and secondly, to host major trial results presentations. The 2018 meeting hosted the results presentation of landmark ANZICS’ ADRENAL trial, which was live streamed in conjunction with a simultaneous New England Journal of Medicine publication.

For 2019, the trials confirmed at present are PARAMEDIC-2 (adrenaline in cardiac arrest), EOLIA (ECMO in ARDS), POLAR(prophylactic therapeutic hypothermia in TBI), TARGET (calorific targets in ICU), APROCCHSS(steroids in sepsis), SUP-ICU (stress ulcer prophylaxis in ICU), POPPI (psychological support for the critically ill) PHARLAP (open lung approach in ARDS), PAMPer (air medical team delivered prehospital plasma in trauma) and SMART (saline vs balanced crystalloid in ICU). MIND-USA, AI in sepsis and ANDROMEDA-SHOCK have recently been added to the programme.

In addition, we have panel discussions on these major trials and also future  trial design, plus a series of talks on how our speakers actually manage conditions in their area of expertise, rather than what the literature suggests we should do. The annual honorary John Hinds Trauma Lecture will be delivered by Prof Maureen McCunn, from Baltimore, USA, entitled “A Culture of Excellence – the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center”.

The meeting is modern in its outlook,

a comprehensive social programme, reduced delegate hotel rates and a family friendly approach, including maternity & paternity leave registration rates, a baby feeding area and free childcare (limited availability).

Further details are available on the Critical Care Reviews Meeting Webpage, including online registration. Please feel free to email for additional information. Critical Care Reviews is a not-for-profit organisation.
