General Professional Training is defined as the structured further development of knowledge skills and attitudes common to all branches of the dental profession which will provide a basis for improved career choice and improvement in patient care.

 In Northern Ireland the format will be 1 year in General Dental Practice (Vocational Training/DF1) followed by a year in Hospital/Community attachments. (DF2)
