The Faculty Development Group was established as part of NIMDTA’s commitment to support and develop trainers, Clinical and Educational Supervisors, Training Programme Directors and Head and Deputy Heads of School.
The aims of this group are to develop trainers’ expertise in their education role through better understanding of medical education theory; to improve skills and knowledge; to enable better enjoyment of teaching and learning; and to improve credibility of teachers and trainers. The group’s functions include oversight of the Recognition and Approval of Trainers process, collating information on trainers in partnership with local education providers, formally certificating trainer status, communicating with GMC and reviewing quality of training based on course feedback.
The Faculty Development Group meets three times per year. All Heads/Deputy Heads of School and Training Programme Directors are welcome to attend.
