Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act came into effect on 1 January 2005. The Act gives the general right of access to all types of ‘recorded’ information held by public authorities, sets out exemptions from that right and places a number of obligations on public authorities.

The Agency has two main responsibilities under the Act – the first is to produce and maintain a Publication Scheme (a guide to the information held by the Agency) and the second is to deal with requests for information.

The Freedom of Information Act does not affect the right of individuals to confidentiality in accordance with Article 8 of the Human Rights Act (1998), the Data Protection Act (1998) and common law.  The Agency is committed to providing openness and transparency within the organisation whilst maintaining confidentiality.

 Publication Scheme

The Agency’s revised Publication Scheme is now available in PDF format HERE.  It can also be viewed on these pages using the navigation menu on left hand side of this page.   Links are provided where the information is currently available online.  Any questions are comments about the Publication Scheme should be directed to the Administrative Director.

Charging Policy

The Agency’s Freedom of Information Charging Policy is available to view HERE.  This policy outlines what charges (if any) may be made for information within the Publication Scheme and for information which is not currently included.
