WORKING WITH PAGES
How to edit pages quickly (fast edit)

You do not have to search through the list of pages in the admin section to edit them. There is a faster way using the navigation structure of the site:

  1. First make sure you are logged into the site, if you are in the admin section click on the "View site »" link on the top left of the page
  2. Navigate directly to the page you wish to edit using the website navigation
  3. Once you have found the page you wish to edit you should see a link at the bottom of the page like the one shown below:

  1. Click on this link to open the page in the admin section ready for editing
  2. Make the required changes to the page and click on the "edit page" button to save the page
  3. Note: you will only see the "Edit this page" link if you have sufficient privileges to edit the page
Adding new pages to the website

Important! Before adding or removing a web page make sure you know what you are doing.

Make sure you know where the page you are adding should be placed in the website navigation structure. The site structure is based on a simple Parent - Child relationship, the General Practice section for example is one of the top level sections of the website, it is described as a "Main Page" or Parent, all the sub pages within the GP section are children of the GP parent page.

  1. First make sure you are logged into the admin section of the site
  2. From the admin menu select "Write -> Write Page"
  3. Give the page a logical, sensible title. (Note: this title will be displayed at the top of the page when viewed on the website)
  4. Next select the correct page parent option from the "Page Parent" drop down list, for example if the page is a sub page of "Vocational Training(VTS)" select "General Practice -> Vocational Training(VTS)", see the image below:

  1. Add the page contents in the text area
  2. Click on the "Create New Page" button to create the page
  3. Click on the "View site »" link on the top left of the page and check that the page has been added to the correct section in the website
  4. If there is an error with the page simply open it for editing and make the required adjustments
Setting up the order of pages in the navigation structure

Pages are ordered according to a property called "Page Order", which can be accessed from the page edit menu in the admin section (See image below). Page order is simply a number which corresponds to the order in which the page should be displayed, the page you want displayed at the top of the navigation should be set to "Page Order" 1 and each subsequent page set to 2, 3, 4…etc.

Pages are defaulted to a page order value of 0, which basically means they have no specific order and will be displayed alphbetically. Bear in mind that if you start adding new page order numbers to pages you must complete the processes before the pages will be in the correct order. If some pages still have page order values of 0 they will be displayed before the other numbers. (For example 6 pages numbered 0,0,0,1,2,3 must be numbered 1,2,3,4,5,6 to be displayed correctly)

  1. Navigate to the page/section you wish to modify
  2. Open the page for editing and scroll down to the "Page Options" section, see the image below:

  1. Enter the number related to the order in which you want the page displayed (1 for first, 2 for second etc…)
  2. Click on the "edit page" button to save the page and check the page order in the navigation
  3. If the page order is incorrect make sure that all the pages have been allocated a page order (No page should have a page order = 0)
Deleting pages from the website

Important! Deleting the wrong page cannot be easily reversed and you may lose important data.

If the page you wish to delete contains a lot of data, first make a backup of the content and then you can delete it knowing that if you have made a mistake you can always rectify it.

  1. To make a back up first open the page for editing
  2. On the editor menu click the HTML button, see below:

  1. Select all (Ctrl+A) the HTML code from the window which open and paste it (Ctrl+V) into a text editor like NOTEPAD
  2. Save the file on your PC as a text file (.txt), make sure you put it some where you will remember
  3. Now you can safely delete the file, close the HTML source window and scroll down the pages to the page options section and click the "Delete This Page" button:

  1. A window will open asking you to confirm you want to delete the page, click OK to delete the page
