Bypass your cache
The NIMDTA website saves bandwidth by instructing your web browser to store many parts of the site in its local cache (normally on your hard drive), so that they are downloaded only once. This includes pages you'’ve previously viewed, images previously displayed etc.
Sometimes this has the undesired—and highly confusing result—that after making a change it appears as though no change was made.
When you encounter odd behavior, please try instructing your browser to bypass the cache so that the whole page is reloaded even if there is a cached copy. Normally, revisiting the cached page, or clicking "Refresh" or "Reload", will cause the browser to ask the website if there is a newer version available, downloading only if there is; the instructions below explain how to over-ride this behavior.
For internet explorer to manually reload a page and bypass the cache:
- either: Hold the Control key, and press F5.
- or: Hold the Control key, and click the Refresh button on the toolbar.
To change the behavior of internet explorer so that it automatically reloads cached pages (recommended):
- Open internet explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab.
- On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Settings button. This will open the Settings box.
- In the Settings box, there are four ways to check for newer versions of pages that are stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder:
- Please check the option "Every visit to the page". This way you'’re assured of the most current content.
