International Medical Graduates
International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are doctors who, regardless of where they may have obtained their primary qualification, do not have right of indefinite residence or are not settled in the United Kingdom (as determined by immigration and nationality law).
The Deanery welcomes international graduates. Further information on training opportunities for international medical graduates can be accessed at www.nimdta.gov.uk/human-resources/hr-recruitment/568/international-medical-recruitment/
Important changes to Imigration Rules
We have received advice stating that non-UK / non-EEA doctors who are classed as UK graduates - i.e. are graduates of medical schools in the UK and are currently undertaking UK Foundation training - will be eligible to apply for UKBA Tier 1 Post-Study Work Visas.
Therefore, these candidates will not be subject to the Resident Labout Market Test. This means that candidates in this category who meet the necessary criteria will be eligible to apply in Round 1 of specialty training recruitment - i.e. the round of recruitment which is currently running (4th December to 18th December).
For more information on the post-study work visa, please visit this page of the UK Borders Agency website: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/tier1/poststudy/
