CORE MEDICAL TRAINING

Applicants applying to Core Medical Training in Northern Ireland should only follow the guidance for all applicants applying to all specialties within the Northern Ireland Deanery as Northern Ireland is NOT part of Core Medical Training National Recruitment Process.

DOCUMENTATION TO BE BROUGHT TO INTERVIEW

In addition to the documentation required to support any statements made in your application, you will be required to bring a number of documents along to interview / selection centre.  These are as follows:   

  • Original proof of identify (passport or driving licence only)
  • Original GMC Certificate
  • Original Documents for all qualifications listed on your application form (translated if necessary) verified evidence of competences cited on your application form
  • Verified evidence of Foundation competencies (eg FACD, Certificate A, Certificate B or Appendix V (a or b) of the Applicants Guide above)
  • Verified evidence of competences cited on your application form (see Applicants Guide above)
  • Evidence of Right to Work in UK (see section below on Right to Work in UK)
  • Evidence of educationally-approved posts cited on your application form (eg evidence of recent assessments or appraisal, a letter from your employing Trust(s) or contract(s) of employment)
  • Two completed References on NIMDTA’s formal template signed by the relevant referees (see section below regarding References)
  • Completed Access NI Disclosure Certificate Application (please bring the supporting evidence required as outlined on page 2 of the guidance). (see section below on Access NI)

Additional documents may be required by particular specialties and if this is the case you will be informed of this when invited to attend interview / selection centre. (See relevant person specification). 

RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK

Right to Work in the UK

Anyone wishing to work in the UK must have the sufficient immigration status to do this. Information relating to immigration issues surrounding those applying to specialty training can be found on the MMC website.  The Agency is not equipped to provide immigration advice, neither are we regulated to do so. If you are unsure as to what your immigration status is, or whether you are eligible to apply please contact the UK Borders Agency (UKBA) or the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC). Candidates should be aware that failure to meet the required standards, or provide sufficient information on your application form may result in your application being delayed or rejected.

You must bring your passport and proof of your immigration status to any interviews or assessments you attend.


REFERENCES

You should contact your preferred referees well in advance and ensure they are happy to provide a reference for you and that they will be able to do so in the required period. 
You will be required to bring two completed and signed references from your nominated referees to your interview. These will only be accepted if completed on the NIMDTA reference template (click here) to download a copy.  Should you need to change your referee and their contact details you must notify NIMDTA immediately by e-mailing specialty@nimdta.gov.uk
All offers are subject to TWO satisfactory references along with the other Pre-employment checks being satisfactory.

ACCESS NI Disclosure Certificate & Supporting Documentation

It is imperative that you complete the ACCESS NI Disclosure Certificate (Click here) and bring a completed document with the correct supporting documentation from the page 2 of the booklet.  Please note that this form can now be completed on the computer, but it must be printed out, signed and posted.  If you require additional space for your address history please complete an address continuation sheet.  Please (click here) to access guidance on how to complete the ACCESS NI Certificate booklet.  

VALID DOCUMENTATION IN SUPPORT OF APPLICATION:

Three documents must be produced in the name of the Applicant: If this is not possible then 5 documents from Group 2 must be produced it is preferred that at least one of these documents includes photographic identification.

  • One document from Group 1 (photographic), Driving Licence or Passport (Check page 2 of booklet to access a more extensive list)
  • Two documents from Group 2: (Check page 2 of booklet to access a more extensive list)

If using bank/building society statements, VISA, Financial statements these must be issued within last 12 mths.  If using payslips they must be issued within last 3 mths.

It is important to bring the correct documentation to verify your identification.
