ENGAGE Clinical Leadership & Improvement Programme

Attention All Trainees in GP, Dentistry or Hospital Specialty Training with six to 18 months remaining until CCT
As part of NIMDTA’s VALUED strategy, NIMDTA is delighted to invite you to participate in the ENGAGE Clinical Leadership and Improvement Programme.

ENGAGE has been designed in conjunction with the HSC Leadership Centre. This programme aims to challenge, develop and support doctors and dentists who are within six to 18 months of CCT in specialty training to ensure that they are prepared to lead effectively so that they can influence, shape and improve the delivery of high quality patient-centred care.

Participants will attend seven modules organised mostly on Monday evenings at NIMDTA between October 2019 and June 2020. These modules will be delivered by consultants from the HSC Leadership Centre with input from senior clinical leaders and improvers from the HSC as well as external contributors.

Participants will also complete a Quality Improvement project. This may be a project that the participant has already started or needs to complete as part of their curriculum. This Quality Improvement project should not be viewed as additional work but rather the programme will act as a catalyst and support the completion of this initiative. Quality Improvement work will be displayed during a showcase event in June 2020 with the opportunity to compete for oral presentation prizes.

Approval is being sought for accreditation of this programme with the aim being that those completing the programme successfully would be awarded a Certificate in Leadership.

Your participation in the programme will be completely funded by NIMDTA but travel/subsistence connected with attendance at the modules will not be supported.

There are places for 45 participants in total. The programme is open to trainees in dentistry, general practice or hospital-based specialty training who have six to 18 months remaining until CCT at the time of the first module.

The programme is voluntary and will be delivered largely in the evenings. One full day session has been arranged in December 2019 and trainees should request study leave to attend this.

Where possible, video and teleconferencing options will be made available for most modules, should remote attendance be required. Not all modules however will be able to facilitate this due to the level of interaction required.

Places on the programme will be allocated to eligible applicants on a first come, first served basis. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit an application form as soon as possible.

If you are interested in participating in this programme, please complete the application form and return to before 11.59pm on Friday 13 September 2019.
