Dr Tony Tham awarded MSc in Clinical Education

Tony Tham - graduationDr Tony Tham, Training Programme Director in General Internal Medicine, has graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with MSc in Clinical Education for his education research on “Evaluation of Feedback to Trainees in Medical Specialties from the Joint Royal College of Physicians Training Board Work Place Based Assessments Pilot”.

A letter has been issued by Dr Fergal Bradley (Director of Safety, Quality and Standards) , regarding the MBRRACE report “Saving Lives, Improving Mothers’ Care: Lessons learned to inform future maternity care from the UK and Ireland Confidential Enquiries into Maternal Deaths and Morbidity 2009-2012”.

National Paediatric Academy Trainees Meeting

Following on from the success of previous Academic Paediatric Association (APAGBI) annual meetings, the next National PaediatricAcademic Trainees meeting, followed by the Academic Paediatrics Association of Great Britain and Ireland will take place in Leeds on March 26th and 27th 2015. You do not need to be a current member of the APA to register for the conference.

The APA is open to clinical and non-clinical trainees, who have an interest in research in paediatrics and child health. This is a great opportunity to learn more about a career in academic paediatrics, learn how to conduct research in child health, an opportunity to present your work, and network with fellow interested colleagues (both current and potential future colleagues!). BMA Research Grants 2015

The 2015 BMA research grants are now open and applications can be made online at

The grants provide approximately £500,000 of funding annually across ten different research grants. Funding areas range from heart disease to schizophrenia to the development of clinical outcome measures. Applications are invited from medical practitioners and/or research scientists for research in progress or prospective research.
