FMLM NI Regional Conference Poster Winners

At the recent Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management NI Conference, on Friday 14 November at Riddell Hall,  the winners of the Best Poster competition were announced:

  • Dr Matthew Macartney (NI Foundation Year 2 trainee) won in the Foundation/Core trainee section –  this prize was awarded for his poster on the [wpfilebase tag=fileurl id=934 linktext=’A-Z guide to being a Fy1 doctor in Daisy Hill Hospital’ /]
  • Dr Gareth Lewis (NI ST6 trainee in renal medicine) won in the Higher Specialty Trainee/Consultant section – this prize was awarded for his poster on the [wpfilebase tag=fileurl id=933 linktext=’Referal for Renal Transplantation from the Western Trust: Streamlining Process, Improving Patient Experience’ /].



Antibiotic Guardian Campaign

The Antibiotic Guardian Campaign, which is being launched in association with European Antibiotic Awareness Day is a campaign asking everyone in the UK, the public and medical community, to become Antibiotic Guardians by making a pledge that they personally will take to conserve our antibiotics and to ensure that they are effective when we really need them!

The Antibiotic Guardian campaign has been developed by Public Health England (PHE) in collaboration with Department of Health’s Expert Advisory Committee on Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infections (ARHAI); the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Devolved Administrations and professional bodies/ organisations towards the ‘One Health’ initiative.

WTCPP Clinical Training Fellowships

The Wellcome Trust Liverpool Glasgow Centre for Global Health Research is currently inviting applications for the Wellcome Trust Clinical PhD Programme.  This is a 4 year fellowship based in Liverpool in the first year, and then subsequently overseas in a developing-nation environment addressing a research question relevant to local health needs.
