Educational Excellence Awards
The annual 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 event is your chance to promote and recognise your team or colleague for their outstanding work, inspiration and contributions to supporting and improving healthcare.
The purpose of the Educational Excellence Awards is to officially recognise and celebrate the nominated successes achieved during the academic year of Doctors and Dentists in training, Trainers and Educators across Northern Ireland.
The first Educational Excellence Awards Day was hosted in 2017 and has been a popular annual event ever since.
NIMDTA hosted its 8th Annual Educational Excellence Awards event at The Malone Hotel, Belfast on Friday, 6th June 2025.

ADEPT Poster Presentations
Each year ADEPT Fellows showcase amazing Poster Presentations at the Educational Excellence Awards. Each poster is orally presented at the Awards event, and contains
- an overview of their project outcomes
- innovations and experiences from their host organisation placements
- feedback on formal leadership training including mentoring and coaching they attended as future leaders in healthcare

How are Educational Excellence Awards obtained?
Educational Excellence Awards are presented to winners, following a nomination and judging process, via the following categories:
- Innovation in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Innovation in Training (Trainees)
- Innovation in Training (Trainer/Educator)
- Outstanding Success in National Examination
Who is eligible for Nomination?
Nominations for are open to:
- Doctors and Dentists in a Northern Ireland training programme (Foundation, GP, Hospital Specialty & Dental Training) during each new academic year.
- Trainers/Educators who were in a recognised role during each new academic year.
- All Local Education Providers (LEPs)
