Sedation
NIMDTA Conscious Sedation Support Network (CSSN)
NIMDTA is aware of some of the challenges which can present for those who wish to undertake training to provide conscious sedation.
- Difficulty finding and engaging a local superviser to facilitate completion of a portfolio
- Cost of superviser support
- Access to certified training in NI
Training:
NIMDTA has agreed access to a local online provider for conscious sedation training. https://courses.dentalsedationcourses.co.uk/courses/ConsciousSedationCourse - this link is not working for me
There are two course options available:
- A full conscious sedation module including both intravenous and inhalation
- A stand alone in Intravenous or Inhalation sedation module
NIMDTA will provide a face to face training session to consolidate learning on conclusion of the online learning.
Please notify NIMDTA by email: dentalcourses.nimdta@hscni.net to confirm course registration.
Supervisers:
NIMDTA have created a database of supervisers that those who have completed the course and are ready to embark on their portfolio of cases can contact.
These supervisers have:
- Completed a recognised sedation course
- Delivered 50 Sedation cases over the preceding 2-year period
- STAC registration
Cost:
Payment for these courses is made directly through the online provider. To complete your portfolio, supervisery support payment must be made directly to the supervisers, a fee of £76.62 per case has been agreed. It is likely that you will arrange a block booking rather than carry out individual cases and this will assist in reducing cost of travel and out of practice.
Do You Provide Sedation?
Would you like to be involved?
If you are interested in becoming a NIMDTA CSSN Superviser the requirements are:
- Completion of a recognised sedation course
- Delivery of 50 relevant sedation cases over the preceding 2-year period
- Sedation Training Accreditation Committee (STAC)registered (we can assist you to do this)
Payment will be made at £76.62 per supervised case as agreed locally with the course delegate.
Email: dentalcourses.nimdta@hscni.net to register your details or for further information.
