Research for Clinicians Day 2021

NIMDTA, Queens University Belfast and Ulster Medical Society are delighted to invite Postgraduate Doctors and Dentists in Training, Trainers and Educators to attend this year’s Research for Clinicians Day on the morning of Thursday 4 November 2021 online.

Event Attendance

This online event is open to all Foundation, Medical Specialty, Dental Core and Specialty, and GP trainees.

This year we invite a range of guest speakers to provide an overview of the research opportunities available in this region. Following this, presentations will be delivered by Doctors and Dentists in Training, with judging and prize giving for the best presentations. This is an excellent opportunity for Doctors and Dentists in Training to present their original work in the form of clinical, basic science and educational studies, quality improvement, clinical case reports and dental research. A summary of the presentations and winners from 2020 is below. Delegates will also have the opportunity to discuss their research plans with Senior Researchers from each QUB Research Centre.

It is recommended that trainees apply for study leave to attend this event.

Research for Clinicians Day 2020

NIMDTA’s VALUED Trainee initiative is committed to recognising and applauding the achievements of trainees in various aspects of training, including research.

Educators and trainees attended the Research for Clinicians event titled ‘How to make career transitions’ on the morning of Thursday 5 November 2020 online. The event, sponsored by QUB, UMS and NIMDTA, lasted a half day and was free of charge to attend.

Following guest speakers, presentations were delivered by doctors and dentists in training, with judging and prize giving for the best presentations. This is an excellent opportunity for doctors and dentists in training to present their original work in the form of clinical, basic science and educational studies, quality improvement, clinical case reports and dental research. As the format of this year’s event was changed due the COVID 19 pandemic, we were unable to display the poster presentations in the usual way at Belfast City Hospital’s Postgraduate Centre. We therefore have added all poster presentations to the Clinical Academic Training website and we encourage you all to view them here: https://www.qub.ac.uk/schools/mdbs/Study/ClinicalAcademicTraining/TraineeResearchDay2020-PosterPresentations/

You can also find a list of all oral and poster presentations within the Research for Clinicians Abstract Booklet
