NIMDTA
Associate Dean appointed for SAS Career Development

NIMDTA is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Julie Anne Forbes as Associate Dean for Specialty, Associate Specialist and Specialist (SAS) Doctor Career Development.  This is a new role within NIMDTA and will bring with it a host of opportunities both for Northern Ireland’s SAS doctors and for the organisation.

As a SAS Doctor for the last twenty years, Dr Forbes brings a wealth of experience directly from positions which have included SAS Lead within Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, NI Representative to and Vice Chair of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) SAS and Locally Employed Doctor Committee, Board member of the Workforce Board RCOG and NI Representative to COPSAS.

Dr Forbes said, “I am excited to co-ordinate delivery of career development opportunities for SAS across Northern Ireland. This project is timely. The SAS workforce is a fast-growing area within healthcare providing a career pathway which is both interesting and satisfying.  SAS professionals are a vital part of our medical and dental workforce and enhancing their professional development will both benefit their careers and enhance services for patients.

I look forward to working with the NIMDTA Senior Management Team, progressing the framework for delivery of this project and further promoting the important role SAS provides across healthcare within NI.”
