NIMDTA, in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast and Ulster University, successfully hosted its annual flagship event, Clinical Education Day 2025, at Riddel Hall, Queen’s University Belfast on Friday 12th September 2025

The conference focused on the theme “Openness and Responsiveness in Clinical Education”, and brought together over 220 invited guests including national and regional leaders, and educators from across the medical and dental sectors.

The event featured a keynote address by the Health Minister for Northern Ireland, Mr Mike Nesbitt, and welcomed a distinguished line-up of speakers to include:

•           Dr Vijay Nayar, GP and ICB Clinical Lead for Workforce

•           Prof Tony Young OBE, Director of NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme

•           Prof Pushpinder Mangat, Medical Director, General Medical Council

•           Mr Peter McBride, Independent Chair, Inter-Departmental Working Group

•           Prof Louise Dubras, GP and Professor Emeritus of the School of Medicine, Ulster University

Reflecting on the event, Professor Camille Harron, Postgraduate Dean and Director of Education for NIMDTA, said:

“The aim of this conference remains to inform, equip and inspire Northern Ireland’s Medical and Dental Educators, and this year’s programme truly delivered on that promise. We were thrilled to welcome an exceptional calibre of national and regional leaders who contributed to a rich, thought-provoking and highly relevant programme centred around Openness and Responsiveness in Clinical Education.

The event brought together a diverse community of educators dedicated to ensuring that current and future doctors and dentists receive outstanding education and training within the HSC workforce.

I thoroughly enjoyed the engaging presentations and insightful discussions led by inspirational speakers throughout the day. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from colleagues has been a testament to the value and impact of this year’s event.”

The day concluded with enthusiastic feedback from attendees, reinforcing the event’s reputation as a cornerstone of clinical education in Northern Ireland.
