Educational Excellence Award Winners shine during ADEPT Showcase Event

A special afternoon of award presentations was held in NIMDTA on Wednesday 26th June 2024 as part of its annual Educational Excellence Award celebrations.

We were delighted to have in attendance Professor Lourda Geoghegan, Deputy Chief Medical Officer from the Department of Health Northern Ireland, and Professor Neil Kennedy, Director of the Centre for Medical Education, Queen’s University Belfast.

Postgraduate Medical Dean and Director of Medical Education, NIMDTA, Dr Camille Harron delivered the Welcome Address to all invited guests and a video showreel of ‘Educational Excellence Award’ Winners was displayed on a large screen. The video captured award recipients receiving their awards from their nominators in their place of work. It was wonderful to see the surprise and delight on the winners faces when presented with the awards! The room filled with applause when the showreel ended.

Dr Harron said, ““The purpose of the ‘Educational Excellence Awards’ is to officially recognise and celebrate the successes achieved during the academic year of Doctors and Dentists in training, Trainers and Educators across Northern Ireland. This forms part of NIMDTA’s VALUED strategy to ‘Applaud & acclaim success’.

It was wonderful to listen to the acceptance speeches from all the worthy winners! It is encouraging to see the support for ‘excellence’ from our partners and host organisations today, and I am delighted to see more and more Trainees and Trainers being nominated for their outstanding work.”
