ENGAGE Clinical Leadership Programme - 2024 Showcase Event Winners Announced!
The showcase event was the final module of the Leadership Programme which invited trainee doctors and dentists to showcase their learning and achievements through a presentation of a Quality Improvement (QI) projects.
Ms Sandra McCarry (Principle Consultant, HSCLC) commenced proceedings by welcoming all participants and the judging panel to the event, and provided a background on the ENGAGE Leadership Programme and its objectives.
The judging panel for the evening consisted of:
- Dr Aideen Keaney, Director of Health and Social Care Quality Improvement, HSCQI
- Dr Sally-Anne Phillips, Associate Dean for Placement Quality, NIMDTA
- Dr Paul Leggett, Director of Postgraduate GP Education, NIMDTA
Following Ms McCarry’s opening remarks, the top three QI Poster Presentations were presented in full to all attendees, followed by a question and answer session.
The top three QI Poster Projects (selected via smart survey) presented at the event were:
- Dr Clare Shute - Escaping the Escape Room: Development of an “Emergency Eye Trolley” for on Call Ophthalmologist in BHSCT
- Dr Sheema Khan - Standardisation of Biometry for Cataract Surgery in Northern Ireland
- Dr Susan Lenfesty - Locum Inductions Quality Improvement Project RVH & Mater Hospital Emergency Departments
After retiring to consider all 3 oral presentations, the judges awarded Dr Susan Lenfesty first place, Dr Clare Shute second place and Dr Sheema Khan third place!
Dr Camille Harron, Postgraduate Dean & Director of Education NIMDTA, delivered the closing remarks for the event and congratulations was extended to all ENGAGE Clinical Leadership and Improvement Programme Trainees, for the year 2023-2024.
A special thanks was also extended to Ms Sandra McCarry and Ms Maura McMackin for facilitating the event.
