ENGAGE Clinical Leadership Programme - 2026 Showcase Event Winners Announced!
NIMDTA, in collaboration with the HSC Leadership Centre, hosted an outstanding evening at the tenth online ENGAGE Showcase Event, celebrating the achievements of participants in the ENGAGE Leadership Programme.
The showcase marked the final module of the programme, bringing together resident doctors and dentists to present their learning and achievements through Quality Improvement (QI) project presentations.

Ms Sandra McCarry, Principal Consultant at the HSC Leadership Centre, opened the event by welcoming participants and the judging panel. She provided an overview of the ENGAGE Leadership Programme, highlighting its aims to develop leadership capability and support participants in driving meaningful improvement within healthcare.
The judging panel for the evening included:
- Dr Paul Leggett, Director of Postgraduate General Practice Education
- Dr Ruth Gray, Assistant Director for Quality Improvement and Innovation, South Eastern HSC Trust
- Dr Anita Smyth, Director of Hospital Specialty and Professional Development, NIMDTA
Following the opening remarks, the top three shortlisted QI poster projects were presented in full. Each presentation was followed by a question-and-answer session, allowing the judges to explore the projects in greater depth.
The shortlisted projects were:
- Dr Carrie Carson – Discharge Letter Timing: “Home in Time for Tea”
- Dr Laura Gordon – Implementing Continuous Antibiotic Infusions in the Intensive Care Unit
- Dr Victoria Livie – Enhancing the Documentation of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment on Discharge Letters from a Frailty Unit
After careful deliberation, the judges awarded:
- First place: Dr Victoria Livie
- Joint second place: Dr Carrie Carson and Dr Laura Gordon

Professor Camille Harron, Postgraduate Medical Dean and Director of Education, closed the event by congratulating all participants on their commitment, innovation, and achievements throughout the 2025–26 programme.
