SAS Recognition Award Winners celebrated as part of National #SASWeek24

NIMDTA held its inaugural SAS Recognition Awards in the DoubleTree Hotel, Templepatrick on Thursday 16th October 2024.

The event featured keynotes addresses from distinguished guest speakers such as:

  • Professor Sir Michael McBride - Chief Medical Officer for Northern Ireland
  • Professor Geeta Menon - Postgraduate Dean HEE, Clinical Director of KSS Clinical Research Network, and Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon Frimley Health NHS
  • Professor Jamie Read - Dean of Lincoln Medical School and Professor of Medical Education
  • Dr Stephen Austin - Executive Medical Director, Southern Health and Social Care Trust
  • Dr Camille Harron - Postgraduate Medical Dean and Director of Education, Northern Ireland Medical & Dental Training Agency

SAS Recognition Awards were presented to winners, following a nomination and judging process, and the winners were:

SAS Community Interface Award Dr Andrew Kerr

 

Dr Julie Anne Forbes, Associate Dean, SAS Career Development NIMDTA said;

“Today we celebrated the achievements of SAS doctors and dentists in Northern Ireland and included this as part of National #SASWeek24. This event recognised those who have committed to supporting and developing SAS and exemplified what is achievable throughout SAS careers and beyond.

For this first Regional SAS Awards Event, we received 105 nominations for SAS Awards, across 7 categories. I want to thank everyone who nominated a colleague, and I commend ALL the nominees.
Alongside the award nominees, family and friends, we were joined today by representatives from the Department of Health, NIMDTA Board and Senior Management Team, Senior leaders from the HSC Trusts, and reps from the BMA.

Thank you to Prof Sir Michael McBride, Prof Geeta Menon, Prof Jamie Read, Dr Stephen Austin, and Dr Camille Harron for supporting and being part of the event.

Congratulations once again to all SAS Recognition Award Nominees and Winners!”
