Trainees thrive at NIMDTA Regional Enhanced Induction Event

NIMDTA held its first ‘Regional Enhanced Induction’ for Trainees new to UK practice and joining training programmes in NI to a packed venue on Thursday 22nd August 2024.

Trainees gathered in the Hilton Hotel, Belfast and experienced a full and comprehensive programme of engaging presentations from guest Speakers on a range of relevant clinical and non-clinical topics.

NIMDTA Postgraduate Dean and Director Medical Education, Dr Camille Harron said, “I was delighted to welcome and meet so many trainees who are new to the HSC at our first regional enhanced induction session.

The event was open to new trainees at F2 level and above who are new to UK practice and provided attendees within induction across a range of areas relevant to commencing medical training in Northern Ireland, including how to develop clinical skills, how to thrive in the workplace and how to adapt to working in the health service in NI.

Thank you to all our wonderful Speakers who delivered such highly engaging presentations and simulation sessions to make the event fully inclusive for all attendees.

I look forward to hearing how all our Trainees new to NI embrace living and working in NI and wish all Trainees all the very best for the years ahead”

A warm welcome…

Specialty trainees new to Northern Ireland then had the opportunity to network in a relaxed environment with members of the NIMDTA Senior Management Team, meet their peers and representatives from organisations to include the General Medical Council and the British Medical Association.

Current Medical Trainees who have achieved various degrees of success in Leadership Opportunities provided by NIMDTA were also present and provided insight on a range of leadership opportunities to include:

  • ADEPT Clinical Leadership Fellow Programme
  • SUCCEED Fellowship Programme
  • Trainee Ambassador Programme
  • ENGAGE Programme
  • Trainee Forum
