ePortfolio Support
Below is a collection of video guide links designed to help you access, update, and submit your ePortfolio with confidence.
What is an ePortfolio?
An ePortfolio is a secure, online platform used by resident doctors in the UK to record and showcase their learning, development, and clinical competencies throughout their training. It serves as a central hub for:
- Documenting clinical experiences and achievements
- Reflecting on learning and professional growth
- Tracking progress against curriculum requirements
- Planning personal development goals
- Preparing for assessments, interviews, and career progression
The ePortfolio supports lifelong learning by encouraging doctors to reflect on their practice, identify areas for improvement, and demonstrate their readiness for the next stage of training or professional advancement
Video Resources:
Dr Alabi Olugbenga provides an overview of completing the ePortfolio platform.
The Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board also hosts a section within their website to include a webinar, slide set and list of FAQ's to support ePortfolio completion.

An e-Portfolio demonstration is provided during IMT1 Regional Induction
Resources:
The Royal College of Anaesthetics run two 'all day' webinars for ST1's to support ePortfolio completion.
Resident Doctors are sent a link to the recording by the College. Please contact the College for access.
Below is an example of the agenda to expect.

Below is a summary of the content:
Purpose of the Trainee Portfolio
- It’s an educational tool for GP trainees to record learning in all settings.
- Acts as the central system for workplace-based assessment (WPBA) evidence.
- Provides a structured way to document progress and curriculum coverage.
Main Features
- Easy to use: Built on a modern platform widely used by GPs.
- Mobile app: Allows trainees to record learning logs and review entries offline.
- Progress tracking: Dashboard shows if you’re on track for your next ESR and required capabilities.
- AI-powered checks: Automatically scans entries for sensitive data.
- Efficiency: Fewer clicks and pop-ups for smoother navigation.
Integration with Exams and Certification
- AKT, CSA, and SCA results are published through the portfolio.
- Holds evidence for interim and final reviews.
- Successful completion of WPBA plus exams enables application for CCT and GMC GP Register inclusion.
Access and Permissions
- Belongs to the trainee, but trainers, supervisors, and deanery admins have controlled access.
- Personal records remain private unless shared by the trainee.
Updates Section
- The page notes that the portfolio is updated regularly with new releases and improvements.
- There’s a link to archived updates prior to 2024.
- Users can submit suggestions for improvements via a feedback form.
