ADEPT Fellows from the 2021/2022 training year gathered at Beechill House to receive their end of year recognition awards and certificates on Thursday 7 July 2022.

The award presentation event was the first time many of the ADEPT Fellows got to meet each other face-to-face mainly due to Covid-19 restrictions imposed during the Programme term and their geographical training placements across NI.

Dr Ian Steele, Postgraduate Dean and Director of Education, and Denise Hughes, Senior Education Manager at NIMDTA greeted the ADEPT cohort and took pride in hearing more about the projects and initiatives they were involved in, and the benefits that the project outcomes will ultimately have towards enhancing patient care.

Dr Steele congratulated the ADEPT cohort on their work and dedication to the ADEPT Programme and provided feedback on each of their ‘end of year’ project presentations.

Commenting at the award presentation Dr Steele said,

“The project outcomes for the 2021/2022 ADEPT Fellows has provided wonderful insight into the wide range of opportunities and experiences provided by the ADEPT Clinical Fellowship programme.

For example, this year we saw projects requiring medical knowledge being central to the role out success of major new IT software for patient records; undergraduate curriculum development and enhancement in partnership with Queens University; making new start information for our International Graduates better and more accessible, and ground breaking ‘refresh’ support courses for Trainees who are returning to work following periods of leave.

It is clear from the enthusiasm and passion that each ADPET Fellow has brought to the Programme that the initiatives will continue to develop and achieve more success for the Fellows and their Host Organisations beyond this training year term.

We wish all our ADEPT Fellows the very best as they continue their Training with NIMDTA and ‘Thank You’ for making the 2021/2022 another amazing experience for everyone involved.”

The gathering also provided the opportunity for the Fellows to network.
