Clinical Leadership and Improvement Programme

LAST CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR ENGAGE CLINICAL LEADERSHIP & IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME

As part of NIMDTA’s VALUED strategy, NIMDTA is delighted to invite trainees to participate in ENGAGE which is the Clinical Leadership and Improvement Programme for senior trainees and was introduced for the first time during the 2016/17 training year.

ENGAGE has been designed in conjunction with the HSC Leadership Centre. The programme aims to challenge, develop and support doctors and dentists in their final year of training to ensure that they are prepared to lead effectively so that they can influence, shape and improve the delivery of high quality patient-centred care.

Participants will attend nine modules organised on Monday evenings at NIMDTA between the start of November 2018 and mid-June 2019. These modules will be delivered by consultants from the HSC Leadership Centre with input from senior clinical leaders and improvers from the HSC as well as external contributors.

Participants will also complete a Quality Improvement Project. This may be a project that the participant has already started or needs to complete as part of their curriculum. This Quality Improvement Project should not be viewed as additional work but rather the programme will act as a catalyst and support the completion of this initiative.

Your participation in the programme will be completely funded by NIMDTA but travel/subsistence connected with attendance at the modules will not be supported.

There are places for 45 participants in total. The programme is open to trainees in their final year of training in dentistry, general practice or hospital-based specialty training.

The programme is voluntary and will be delivered largely in the evenings. To complete the programme, trainees need to be able to attend 6 out of the 9 of sessions including attendance at the final showcase event on 3rd June 2019.

All Hospital Specialty, General Practice and Dental Trainees who are currently within the last 12 months of training/about to enter the last 12 months of training towards CCT or equivalent are encouraged to consider participating in the programme.

Places on the programme will be allocated to eligible applicants on a first come, first served basis. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit an application form as soon as possible.

If you are interested in participating in this programme, please complete the application form and return to valuedtrainees@hscni.net before 2:00pm on Monday 5th November 2018.
