Annual Educational Review

Named Clinical and Educational Supervisors are required to undergo an annual educational review conducted by the Director of Medical Education or a nominated appraiser, as part of their whole-practice appraisal.

This process ensures that the trainer’s educational role is specifically considered within their annual appraisal in the HSC. The review will:

  • Demonstrate how trainers have maintained and updated their knowledge and skills in postgraduate medical education and training.
  • Assess how this knowledge has been applied to their educational role, including training, supervising, and supporting trainees.
  • Identify and consider any development needs for the trainer.

The Annual Educational Review is conducted as part of whole-practice appraisal within your Trust. Please contact your Trust Medical Education Centre for access to the supporting document, which can assist you when inputting data into the Recognised Trainer platform.
