Named Clinical and Educational Supervisors are required to undergo an annual educational review by Director of Medical Education or nominated appraiser as part of whole practice appraisal. This will enable trainers to have their education role considered specifically within their annual appraisal in the HSC. The review will demonstrate how trainers have kept their knowledge and skills in postgraduate medical education and training up to date, how they have applied that knowledge to their educational role (training, supervising and supporting trainees), and consider what their development needs are.
