Faculty Development Group

The Faculty Development Group was established as part of NIMDTA’s commitment to supporting and developing trainers, including Clinical and Educational Supervisors, Training Programme Directors, and Heads and Deputy Heads of School.

The aims of the group are to:

  • Develop trainers’ expertise in their educational role through a better understanding of medical education theory.
  • Improve skills and knowledge in teaching and learning.
  • Enhance enjoyment of teaching and learning activities.
  • Strengthen the credibility of teachers and trainers.

The group’s functions include:

  • Oversight of the Recognition and Approval of Trainers process.
  • Collating information on trainers in partnership with local education providers.
  • Formally certifying trainer status.
  • Communicating with the GMC.
  • Reviewing the quality of training based on course feedback.

The Faculty Development Group meets three times per year.
