Professional Development Programme for Hospital Specialty Trainees (PDP4HST)

Welcome to the Professional Development Programme for Hospital Specialty Trainees (PDP4HST)

PDP4HST is a modular, generic professional teaching programme for all post-foundation hospital specialty trainees.

The modules provided in this programme are mapped to the 9 GMC Generic Professional Capabilities (GPCs) and consolidated into five key themes;

  • Fundamentals of Medical Professionalism and the Law,
  • Essential Skills for Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality Improvement,
  • Essential Skills for Medical Education,
  • Essential Academic Skills
  • Clinical Leadership & Management Skills for Senior Trainees (Management Course).

The modules can be taken as standalone sessions or in the themed groups to earn a certificate in that theme.

The modules will help trainees to develop the non-clinical skills required to be a leader, a manager, a teacher, a scholar and a service improver.
